"She had a beautiful smile"
The landlady thinks to herself.
Frozen in time, as a child, a young girl.
In the distance, she is choked with ice.
Frozen shoes, frozen snow, frozen apples.
Later,
Curled up by the wood stove,
She thinks of the green sky and wonders why it is so.
She is fascinated by the peacocks, but they are no more.
Once upon a time, she could laugh at the hollow sea downhill.
She no longer laughs.
Christmas is up the road,
"Carry me there, to every house" she says.
....to a place touched by the mountain.
Lost in her own thoughts, the landlady waited,
until she watched the beautiful girl vanish into the earth.
Really just a very beautiful poem. I got really good images coming to my mind as I read it. Can't believe you made this as a blackout poem and had everything work! There was a real connecting story throughout the entire thing, with a beginning middle and end that I could pinpoint. Really, very good.
